Medicare's Patient Reported Outcome Performance Measure (PRO-PM).

As part of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program, hospitals are required to collect and submit pre-operative and 1-year postoperative PRO outcomes on hip and knee joint replacement patients in order to receive thier full annual payment update. Becuase the financial penalty is for all of a hospital's services, most stand to lose millions if they do not comply.
